The
Clinton County Historical Association is dedicated to preserving
Clinton County's heritage. With its museum, historic sites and
period houses the Association reveals the way the County's inhabitants
lived and worked for over three hundred years. By touring the
properties, visitors see how Clinton County evolved from a forested
wilderness into a farming community and on to be one of the fastest
growing rural areas in the State.
The area rich in military history from
the French and Indian War, the American Revolution and the War
of 1812, hosted a military presence almost continuously until
the recent loss of Plattsburgh Air Force Base in 1995.
